Distinguished Security Experts Speak at UF

Seventh IT Security Awareness Day Held in Reitz Auditorium

The seventh UF Information Technology Security Awareness Day (ITSA Day) will be held Wednesday, October 12, in the Rietz Union Auditorium. The all-day event is sponsored by the office of the Vice Provost for Information Technology and will be hosted by the UF IT Security Team.

Security experts from the FBI, SANS, Microsoft, Cisco and others will present popular security issues such as identity theft and forensics. Among other topics, SANS Chief Research Officer, Johannes Ullrich will discuss the popular Zotob worm and Cisco CISSP Security Expert, Domenic Seibold will cover IT security best practices and the risks associated with non-compliant machines. Vendors will be available to answer your questions in the Gallery outside the Auditorium.

"Since ITSA Day started in 1998, UF IT workers have greatly improved security of campus IT resources" said Kathy Bergsma, UF ISM. "We are pleased to offer ITSA again this year to help continue the positive trends."

Traditionally, ITSA Day is focused toward IT workers. This year ITSA Day will also provide content for UF students, faculty and staff such as ways to protect oneself from identity theft. Bringing IT security awareness to all end-users on campus is a primary goal of the UF IT Security Team.

ITSA Day is free and open to the public. No advanced registration is required.
